Andrew,
I was going to write a guide for Rescue Rangers 2 next, but I see that's already been taken earlier in this topic, so I guess that would be stupid.
I'll take R.C. Pro-Am II instead. I love that game, I've beat it, and I think I'm up to the challenge.

In the near future, I plan to pick up my Rainbow Silkroad project again....
Maybe I'll make it a co-summer project with Might and Magic: Worlds of Xeen.... Either way, I'll put it above my Doraemon RPG guide, since two got put up for that game since I started mine.
Just don't expect it soon....I get notoriously lazy on these things....people were on the Pool of Radiance board waiting for me to finish my guide for that game for six months before I finally got through it.

Most of the good NES games that have yet to be covered are in Japanese. I'm starting to agree with Devin. Some of these would be hard to cover. If I find a patch, I'll do Wily and Light no Rockboard: That's Paradise. Otherwise -- if I figure out how to do it -- I'll do Thunderbirds.

The very first draft of the whole deal, along with how I plan to display things, is up. Yes, I chickened out and started with the easy ones, but eventually I should get to the bigger ones.
http://home.earthlink.net/~schultza/nes/0.htm
Ideally I'll put links to/from one page to every other one at the bottom/top, but that's in the future.
I'm also considering splitting the pages for a starting letter into full-circle and non-full-circle.

Well, I wrote and submitted my new walkthrough for R.C. Pro-Am II. It came together much more quickly than I anticipated, and will soon be the best guide on teh site for that game. ;-)

Glad the format is initially agreeable. Hopefully it'll get more robust when I have a longer period of time to sit down.
Brian,
Thanks for mentioning that! I knew I was forgetting one circle. I think that I needed to put in another column for equivalence, i.e. an orange circle and a link states that one game is the same as another under a different title. I'll edit that later. That information might go in the comments part too. But not too much--I want the pages to be very quick loading, and plus I have an HTML walkthrough to fit into my own personal web space.
In the meantime I will see if I can reform the GameFAQs HTML pages into the format I have, so the initial part is a bit easier. A lot of cut and pasting could save time as I don't know ASP/PHP.
I'll also hope to write up who volunteered for what. I can't check things too often, but anyone feel free to alert me if certain games get done and I overlook them.
But right now I need to go give Pipe Dream a full circle FAQ. I've said this the past two nights though.

What would be cool is if we could make a clean sweep of all of the first-gen systems. We'd have to have some Japanese speakers aboard, but it'd be really awesome.
But as Dan said, one system at a time.

Statistics for a percentage of Japanese, engaging in NES-related games, arent visible; its a verifying cause if an accompanying guide is considered required.
A comprehensive list of individuals, singling out guides, should be surfacing here.
Additionally, if necessary, one is primed for compiling a guideIll assist in writing.

You'll find all the NES emulators (only emulators) you'll ever need here:

Personally I use Nester, though I hear NNNesterJ is a lot better. Anything that Nester won't run I try in either FCE Ultra or Nesticle (an old favourite) though.

Nester for me, though I have a large enough collection of games in my possession that I don't typically feel the need to emulate. I prefer to buy the actual game when possible (which right now is never, since I'm unemployed).

okay, so here's a prototype sort of thing of what this php version of the log whatnot would look like (provided that you guys would want me doing it, in case nobody else would):
http://free.hostultra.com/~mvhsbreakers/nesfaqprct/display.php
so you just select a game and type in your username and it saves it to the database, so we can see that you've taken in the responsability to write for that game... of course, that's just a hack i just did... i'm not sure if you guys would even want something like that (maybe you just want to stick with html and type it all by hand), but in case you'd like me to keep working on it, i'd add for functionality to it, so you'd be able to add comments and update the status of it and stuff like that...
comments/questions/suggestions?
thanks (btw, i didn't save those files to my actuall server because i'm currently saving a backup of it, so i'll just leave the files at hostultra for now...
peace...

Cool idea. For a while I've been tracking down NES games without guides and covering them if need be. But without some sort of master list detailing what is American and what isn't, I really couldn't be bothered to look at anything other than the request list or games that I was interested in playing to begin with.
If in fact this project does get off the ground, and someone does get such a list up, I'd be happy to assist. My only concern is that perhaps the coordination between everyone helping out would be far from ideal, with random people just popping up and doing guides for games on the list without mentioning it. It would be kind of disheartening to start on a guide only to be beaten out by someone else, you know?
It's also rather intimidating just how many people have applied to do this, but I figure some will be weeded out once they realize the gravity of what they're applying for here. FAQless NES games are usually like that for a reason. Whether it's ridiculous challenge(and this is the lesser of the evils since most "FAQers" just cheat their way through games they have trouble with), an engine that's tough to get into or just plain something that's not fun to write about. We'll see, though; even if things don't quite work out optimally, it's nonetheless nice to see so many people interested in old NES games.

I use FCEU, though Gauntlet II freezes on it, so I use nesticle for that one.
Nietsnie, I like the input form for your page so far and the less maintenance needed the better--if you're able to host things once they get stabilized this would be awesome. Perhaps we could have input forms for verifying certain files work as well?
If we could have a production line to get the pages up & running things would really start to fly, and I think Dan Engel made a huge start with his text file page earlier in the topic. What sort of format would the pages need to be in? Can we just send you HTML? Would it be hard to add graphics, etc. in php or just be like HTML? I'm admittedly clueless.
Yes, it would be cool to cover all the SMS games. Might be a smaller overall oeuvre, but the games are a bit more obscure.

Yes, you can. Each number at the top of the keyboard can be used as a save state. Press the number, and then save to that state. Press another number, and then save to another state. IN this way, up to ten save states are available for each game.

Overrated,
Thanks for the mention, but I'm not happy. I'm honest.
My FAQ is now posted on the site under the "What's New" listings for yesterday.

A little off-topic, but I have a question for honestgamer.
Why do you neglect to use Tables of Content? It makes navigating so much easier, especially with larger FAQs. Just a question.

Sounds like you may be the best person to take care of that, nietsnie. You volunteered, and it looked good, and if it can be constructed expediently, great!
Oh, by the way, I'd like to reserve Pyramid to write a FAQ for.
