As SB mentioned in his blog, Wii data is now listed under the original release. Saves a lot of linking and data maintenance...

Yup, saw that on other games already. At least it'll make updating things across the board easier. :)

I'm sorry to say but I have no urge to FAQ anything right now on the list, there are just so many better games out there :(

Whenever I burn out for a few months again on the Game Boy Project I will probably start working finally on an FAQ for Mouryou Senki Madara.

Truthfully I had hoped for granitor to finish his guide but he never did.

Or maybe I will get distracted by My Little Pony reruns after I finish up on the Game Boy for a while.

I am tempted to revisit some resources and see if I can't get involved with another FC FAQ. :) Maybe one of the ones with links next to them on the project site...

Are you able to actually view the maps on that page? Anytime I click on one, it goes to a 'page not found' error...

For some reason you have Right Click and open the image in a new screen.

Huh, that works. Really strange setup.

Anyone want to beta test it? Assuming the author hasn't find another person to do it.
I was asked to beta test it, but I declined because I have already played the game and I don't have time to do it anymore.

All you have to do is play the game and make sure all the text shows up without glitches. If you find a glitch, make a save state and send it to the author. That's it.
Devin Morgan (Moderator) | Posted 8/1/2011 8:34:47 PM | message detail
I'm not interested in beta testing, sorry. I may however be claiming SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Monogatari soon...

Anyone going to do Ultimate Frogger Champion? I saw two claims for it, so I was curious.

Just completed and uploaded Level 5 of Youkai Club. I only have one more level left to finish and that will be the completion of another game. I am looking to complete Youkai Club by the end of this month.

Anyone working on anything currently? Figured those of you going back to school would be getting back into this.

Like my quest to see the endings to all NES games, the further I got into it, the harder it got...I think this applies to writing guides to a lot of these difficult Famicom games.

Hopefully there will be a resurgence.

My current guide for the NES project, Youkai Club, has stalled in it's progress. I have a lot of work to do over the next couple of weeks, and will probably not work on any guide much over this time.

Hoping to get the final level completed soon, but unsure if it will be this month or next.

Is there any particular format or outline I'd have to use if I wanted to submit a walkthrough? I have a few games in mind but I dont know anything about the stories, characters, or details of the game. I only know how to start and finish the game to completion. Whats the ruling on that? Also, is your group accepting FDS walkthroughs as well?
Games | Posted 9/11/2011 10:11:29 AM | message detail | (edited)
It really depends on the author and their view. My view would be that they should include as much information about the game as possible. However, GameFAQs view for a complete guide is that they just cover how to complete the game from start to finish (and that is all you really need for Completion Project Guides).

With the FDS (assuming this is Famicom Disk System) games, you would have to ask another author about their contribution to this project.

EDIT: Forgot to mention about format. There is NO format requirements. Make the guide look however you want, whether you want to use plain text or formatted layouts.

And finally, just enjoy writing for the game(s) you choose to cover.

I do not mind to help out with translations, I can do small stuff like the names of characters, locations, and items.
But if you need story translations, I won't be able to help you out there.

Also how are you going to present the text for me to translate, such as are you going to send me screenshots?

I just found out the FAQ for Chuka Taisen is incomplete. Nothing major though. There's a hidden extra level (Round ??) that takes place in round 4.
Here's a video that shows how to access it:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3091328
GForce645 | Posted 9/15/2011 10:27:14 PM | message detail
I'm going through all the Japanese Famicom games now and have come across a few incomplete. Dark Lord is missing a crucial level and the walkthrough concludes with "get blah blah and continue on to beat the game." Vegas Connection is wildly inaccurate too because its a text adventure with casino elements. The walkthrough only covers how to play casino games and never mentions the text adventure. I dont want to be a guy who criticizes and never contributes so.....

Put me on your list for Hyokkori Hyoutanjima: Nazo no Kaizokusen. and Hikari Genji: Roller Panic

Good to know Rey. Somebody's going to have to show me how to register for nico video again. Or how to log in, I can probably guess my log in but don't know how to find my way around that site.
---

VinnyVideo | Posted 9/16/2011 7:03:55 AM | message detail
Probably I'll just send you screenshots. Most of the game consists of descriptions of the scenarios of famous battles Napoleon fought, and I can sort of figure those out - the main thing I need help with are the other screens that ask players what they want to do.
---
Course clear! You got a card.
ReyVGM | Posted 9/16/2011 1:24:16 PM | message detail
Da Hui, when you enter that link you should see two buttons on the bottom, a yellow and a blue one. If you put the mouse on top of them, you should see "register" or "log in" on your browser's status bar. The blue one is to log in.
enigmaopoeia | Posted 9/17/2011 12:23:56 AM | message detail
@VinnyVideo:
Sounds good to me! Please PM me the screenshots and I'll try to translate them as soon as I can.

The Famicom version of Crazy Climber has 8 stages, each with a special room you must visit to unlock the final 4 stages. That info isnt covered in the ARCADE walkthrough. Nico has a great video for the game but doesnt explain the controls or extra game play details.

Hi Brian, it was me that emailed you about the Vegas Connection walkthrough. I'm unable to read/type in Japanese so I can't really work on that and create a concise and accurate walkthrough. I was able to stumble through with help from http://www25.atwiki.jp/famicomall and finally get to the ending along with some cheat codes.

New life to the project, new blood to the genre. Welcome aboard my friend.

It's pretty bad when my absent a$$ notices a new guide for a hard-to-FAQ all-Japanese Famicom game before any of the other die hards in here. What is this project coming to ;)

I was thinking about FC Dragon Buster 2 or FDS Hikari Genji Roller Panic. Both fairly short games but right now I'm working on beating some longer games. Right now I'm working on Shell Monster's Story but its too damn slow. I took some time off to play Back to the Future: The Game for PC. Anything to erase the memories for the NES BTTF games.

I could strike up a conversation by asking who will start the next topic, that will surely take 20-30 posts and then the topic is done ah

Yeah, over 2 years ago. Andrew used my script to go through it rather than wait for the patch, and he has this awesome tool for creating the maps. Besides after playing 1,2,3 I think he was used to these enemies and gameplay.

That reminds me, while going through the game we got stuck a couple of times and contacted Dastard of www.saturn.dti.ne.jp/~dastard/ who was quite helpful (if you write him in Japanese that is), his site is quite awesome for RPGs but I'm not sure what hasn't been covered yet.
