NES FAQ Completion Project, Part 2
From: midnighter03 | Posted: 1/23/2005 4:50:23 AM | Message Detail
Not that I plan on writing one since if I did it would suck but on that geocities site where the uncompleted FAQs are listed there is a missing game. The game is Golgo 13. If it's there & I missed it sorry.
From: Revned | Posted: 1/23/2005 12:39:16 PM | Message Detail
Umm, that game already has 1 complete FAQ and one partial.

Lode Runner accepted, but I must have selected skeleton FAQ since it's an empty circle. It's complete, just sent in the update with the full circle selected, my mistake.

Wow, three more FAQs done in one day. I'm almost done with Maxi 15. All I need to finish is Shockwave and I keep trying to get other people to do it. =P

Hey rev, did you submit Sky Kid yet?

Also, I played a little Xevious today. I'm trying to find a cheat that makes it so you are invincible, but have had no luck yet. At one point these two squares came down from the top of the screen and took positions in front of my ship, but they disappeared after about 10 seconds. What the heck was that all about?

Andrew - I'm assuming you'll submit your Shockwave guide separately also, right? I'll put your name on the list.

jelly soup - I saw your new guide and took it off the incomplete list earlier. I'll add you to the completed guides list since you posted here, though.

I just realized Crackout has a few random variables, so I am just going to do a general FAQ instead of a FAQ walkthrough (should be tons quicker that way too). Hopefully submitting it this week sometime.

Shouldnt the Skeleton FAQs be taken off the incomplete list since that is all some games can have (i.e. nascar, racing games) that you really cant write walkthroughs for, but they are on the incomplete list with just a FAQ?
From: Da Hui | Posted: 1/26/2005 8:39:21 AM | Message Detail
You could submit a complete FAQ or FAQ/Driving Guide for them, everything could have a full spot.

Yeah, racing games can have a decent FAQ. Whilst not being a great example, check my World Grand Prix FAQ, for a very simple racing game with a full FAQ.

I might get into this soon, I've got 4 other FAQs to write first though.

Um..on the website, you left out Cliffhanger. I checked and it only has 1 "FAQ" (Game Genie codes), so that's not the reason. I'm playing it right now, and I would like to FAQ it. I'm not experienced, though, so if someone else wants to do it instead, that's completely fine with me.

I did notice that this site lists all the unreleased games for the NES like xybots

Xybots being unreleased is a good thing. I got a chance to play the proto and must say it would be a good game to FAQ, if you are into mapping levels and so forth, as it is basically a 50 level maze, but the game itself is uninspiring at best. Reminded me of Xenophobe a bit.

xtremeskata32 - I took a look at your guide, and it seems pretty good. You're nice and thorough with the walkthrough. One suggestion I have is to break your levels into paragraphs. It can get hard to read without breaks. I also noticed that in the first level walkthrough you used "passed" instead of "past" in a couple places.

Other than that, though, I think it's a well-written guide. Good job!
From: xtremeskata32 | Posted: 1/27/2005 10:40:39 PM | Message Detail
OK, thanks for the advice. I'm just about done with it...it's a really short game when played straight from beginning to end, it takes probably no more than 30 minutes :P. I'll make sure to keep those things in mind when I finish it tonight.

So then none of those games on that short list will ever have complete FAQs? Then shouldn't we take it off the list and put them in a different list?

Shockwave is complete.

Hm, if Xybots is about mazes, I have maze text-mapping utilities so maybe I can take that on. But I may want to do Crystal Mines next. Or maybe something smaller. I'm still signed up for Pipe Dreams, I think.

Good job on everybody's part so far. I'm still looking for a game but while I'm doing that, I'm working on a GBC game.

ASchultz, if your Shockwave isn't up by the time you read this, could you e-mail it to me at DEarnhardtRulez@yahoo.com Once I get that, Maxi 15 will be done. Could you also send me that mapping utility? I want to get some maps for my Exodus FAQ. Thanks in advance.
