The problem with that is that my computer is so slow. Windows '95. Try to ROM on that.

Dude, they have NES emus that can run on a 486. I'm sure you can find one; start with NESticle.
Kratos_42 | Posted 3/29/2006 8:45:39 PM | message detail
Really? I was under the illusion that you had to have a '98 computer at least to play a ROM.

For some of the more advance systems like the GBA or SNES you need a decent machine to get full emulation but for the NES you can get something going.

What are your computer specs?
Da Hui | Posted 3/29/2006 10:33:58 PM | message detail
It shouldn't even matter what the specs are, I had NESticle working no problem on my first computer. That thing was Win95, 133Mhz, with 32mb RAM. NES games were the only use out of that machine.
---
Don't **** with Da Hui
LtCmdData | Posted 3/29/2006 10:40:29 PM | message detail
Yea, NESticle will run on pretty much anything. I was asking about his specs to see if he could run FCE which is superior.
Devin Morgan | Posted 3/29/2006 11:00:59 PM | message detail
I find that Nestopia (what I currently use), Jnes, and FCEU are rather decent.

Is Nesticle fullscreen only (It's been a long time)? Its probably not the best for writing a guide as you play, but you could always take notes.

I've got two levels done on Ultimate Stuntman so far, which I started today because it's too legit to quit.

The World 2-3 boss was a pain and set me back a bit. I didn't get there fully upgraded and it hardly gives you space to move.

Great game, and quite challenging.

I've been personally using Nestopia, and it is not fullscreen, so that makes FAQing so much easier for me. :)

And since I didn't post already, I've claimed Robocco Wars.

While I attempted an FAQ once that never got past the first part of a game and I'm not sure I have time to sit down and do an FAQ on a game since I'm very busy lately, I can say that there are several games listed on the website as incomplete that were never released in any region. If it would help, I could do a bit of checking to help prune the list...

Gemerl, I'm glad you are doing Ultimate Stuntman. It was one of those guides I started a year or so ago and was just too lazy to follow through with. I think I only did a couple levels of it. I can now officially put it out of my mind.

If this guide is anything like your Chesterfield guide, it would have put anything of mine to shame anyway :)

I think one of these days I'll have to edit certain listings on the incomplete list to show that they are officially considered as prototypes and were never released at all (Mother 1 for the NES anyone?). It's not hard to find those out though, since they're listed on this site as being developed by "No_Company".

I don't know, a lot of the levels are pretty hard to write for. It's going to be a good guide, but the way the levels play out prevents the pacing from being the same as Chesterfield.

And man, I don't know if it's just getting used to the game - but levels 4,5,6 were cake compared to 1,2,3.

So I'm at 7-1.

I just went to see what I had actually written for the Ultimate Stuntman guide and couldn't believe I had started it on June 4, 2004...seems like it wasn't even a year ago. Only got up to Stage 1-2 on the actual walkthrough part, but I completely forgot I had a few of the other sections done, including a dedication to Andrew Schultz. I'd hate to waste that dedication, so I'll have to FAQ one of those Sachen games I played through a few months back and put the dedication in there.

Haven't heard from Mr. Schultz in awhile. If you're reading this, hope all is well.

Gemerl, you're right about the first few levels being more difficult than later ones. I actually liked those bomb disposal stages but never figured out how I was going to FAQ them.

I was bored.

Therefore, I coughed up a list of Japan-only games without complete FAQs that have COMPLETE translations. However, this isn't likely complete, due to GameFAQs translating some game names that never were meant to be in English and the translations not having the translated name, or vice versa. It's also possible the site source I used (which also has all the patches on it, but I won't link to for safety of my own account ;) missed something, so again, this likely isn't complete.

Without further ado;

Airwolf
Bio-Warrior Dan: The Inkliezar Battle
Daisenryaku
Deep Dungeon IV
Doraemon
Dragon Buster II
Famicom Wars
Hello Kitty no Hanabatake (I'm assuming this translates to "Hello Kitty's Flower Shop")
Parareru World (Parallel World)
Recca (Raging Fire - Recca)
Sanrio Carnival 2
Shikinjo (Shi Kin Jou)
Shufflepuck Cafe
Venus Senki (Venus Wars)
Wagyan Land 2
Gemerl | Posted 4/2/2006 12:31:49 AM | message detail
I _think_ the bombs are always the same for a given level? I'll give it a run through again before I submit the game.

I was handling them like this:

...
Right, Left, Right, Right, Right, Right.

You should be on a 3.

Right, Right, Left, Left, Up, Down, Up, Up, Right, Up, Up.

You Should be on a 2.

Right, Left, Up, Right, Up.
...

If they aren't unique to their stage (and they do get more complicated in later stages), then I will just have to write a strategy section on that.

I was considering some of that Sachen material as well. Some of the games _are_ legitimately good.

I wasn't very sucessful on my attempt to FAQ Artelius. Seems the game has a high tendency to require pass codes (with 4 digits, containing numbers 0-9 and letters a-f). The problem is, I suppose the people in the towns tell you them, but I don't speak a word of Japanese. Sometime tomorrow, I'll submit the FAQ as incomplete, but I doubt I'll ever be able to finish, unless someone knows the codes, or is willing to type in codes until you find it out. I did that from 0000 to 01FF, but then i realized it would take a lifetime to do. I'm open to suggestions, otherwise, I'll just submit it as incomplete.

Artelius is actually partially translated, but I guess the translation leaves a lot to be desired:

http://romhacking.deadbeat-inc.com/?page=translations&transpage=93

Not sure if that link is a TOS violation or not, it is more of a quick review of the game. Let me know if it is and I will remove it ASAP.

Admiral - It's as up-to-date as it's going to be, so take your pick.

Thanks for checking up on me adaml...I just didn't have the motivation to write(vs other life stuff) and now I think I do. Hope you find the time/motivation to get through with a guide you've wanted to. You or gemerl would be a good choice as topic starter for the next thread.
