I just started playing the game a few days ago. I'm really gettin into it. The game's like Zelda 2/Faxanadu. Those being two of my favs. ever is probably why Chester Field appeals to me.

Just a note for a few people here - I don't remove games from the incomplete list until I actually see them pop up on the What's New page. Of course I know anything that's submitted for this project will likely be posted, it's better for me to be safe than rush into updating. :)

I mentioned this game awhile back in the older thread. Someone NEEDS to write a FAQ for this game. I've beaten over 1000 games and this one just irritates me. I'm missing one measly item in Level 8.

I have a few hints written down that might help someone FAQ into the game quite a bit. For instance:

Stage 7: Use "freeze magic" then use Black Magic to defeat the labyrinth boss.

Stage 8 is just a maze with all kinds of hidden passages.

This game should have a bounty. I'd pony up some $$ for a complete guide through the game.

I just got a tip that I missed a lamp or candle on a previous stage (Chester Field). So I started over today and I've been writing everything down that I do. I skipped a maze on stage 2 before so I wonder if the lamp/candle is in there? No skipping anything this time, I will explore every nook & cranny.

Gemerl, if you start on this guide after the one you're doing now, I might be pretty far and be willing to help with the walkthrough. I guess in a way I'm kinda doing a walkthrough now. It's just I'm a little unsure of myself cause I've never really written before.

Ha ha, the maze in stage 2 had the lamp. Stage 4 is doomed now!!!!!!!!!

Well, it is a tough game so if I do get stuck, I'll be sure to ask around.

Anyways, if I need anything I'll get in touch on NES General.

Devin, yeah it was Chesterfield I was talking about. I never did mention the game name. :)

You can actually go back into previous levels in this game. I forget exactly how but there is usually a door either at the beginning or end of a stage that will take you back. I always found this door to be useless, but I never realized that there would be items you would need in the later levels. For an older game it is pretty complex.

I have a question: I almost fainted with excitement when I saw that there was an unfaqed NES game called Rodan. However, it turns out it is cancelled. Are cancelled games left open then in case a proto comes around?

Maybe known canned games like Rodan and Xybots could be made distinct somehow. Cancelled, but there's always the chance of a prototype showing up... maybe.

And yes, you could still FAQ cancelled games, you just have to find the prototypes. I FAQed Secret Ties and that was a prototype.

Also, one last thing. Sign me up for Incredible Crash Test Dummies. It might take me a while to submit it though because I can't access the home page or contributor page or anything. It just brings up a blank screen. I tried it through IE and Opera so I don't know what the problem is. =(

Heh I didn't know there was an NES Xybots out there to play.

I faqed Squashed and it's a prototype, what I mean is that there are games floating around that most definitely can only be played via prototype and even finding these to emulate can be a difficult process.

As far as I know, Rodan was changed to Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters, but there's nothing saying how much of that was Rodan. There's the eessential problem - you could spend hours searching for a prototype but it may have been destroyed a long time ago, never dumped, or in some obscure corner of the Internet.

If people want to FAQ these games because they sound interesting or know a canned game from some other platform - as I was when I spotted the name "Rodan." It could be difficult to organise a "possibly cancelled with possible proto" list of NES games. But it could be useful in some respects. I could ask around somewhere like cgcc.ca but I've made a total of 2 posts in the last five months and it's doubtful they could help much more than Google could.

From what I understand yes, but it is not as nice looking or as refined. That said, I am sad they never released it due to it being a lot of fun to play. As for the source of the ROM, I am not allowed to say, due to the provider wishing secrecy on the subject.

I thought you all would like to know that the current FAQ for Sky Kid is incomplete. There are not 11 unique missions in that game, but 26. The reason why the game ended for Revned at Mission 11 is because he cheated to destroy the pink UFO. The reason why you don't get a bomb before that UFO in that mission is because you're not supposed to destroy the UFO in that mission; its appearance is just a teaser. Mission 26, on the other hand, is not completable unless you destroy the UFO (and you get not one, but two legitimate chances to do so).

I suppose I could've sent correspondence directly to Revned, but since this is the NES FAQ Completion Project we're talking about, I figured this would get even faster results, and I'm not really willing to spend the time writing a Sky Kid FAQ myself.

Pluvius, I am responsible for that infinite bombs code...I knew I played this game until around Mission 26 years ago. You get to a point where if you get past the UFO in Mission 26 and don't destroy it, you will eventually just keep flying until you automatically crash. There is nothing you can do about it. I will have to investigate that game fully and update my Game Finishes file.

Gemerl, I have some note on the later levels of Chesterfield if you need any help. I really think I was on the last Stage of that game, I just could not figure out how to inflict damage on one of the bosses, perhaps the final boss? If I recall, pretty much anything you hit that boss with would cause instant death for yourself. I must have missed an item along the way.

I got lazy with that game and got too discouraged to go back and find the missing item...if you have everything mapped out you will probably be fine. If I had the time I would go through the game again from the beginning.
