I noticed 'Castle Quest' is missing from the incomplete list. There was either a guide before (doubt it) or it was confused with 'Castlequest' which is a different game. I have completed a bunch of guides, one might get an empty circle though. Let's hope for Lucky 7. And as an added bonus, those 'Top Hit 20' titles were removed as they were listed twice in the Db. |

I've been looking into the adventure genre lately, and I completed one guide this week-end. I am still stuck on the Mississippi game though :/ And I'll also try to get the rest of the 'Go' games done when I have the chance. I think the entire 'Igo Shinan' series can be summed up into 1 guide. Da Hui, if you still need a racing game, check out 'Slalom'. It's not exactly "racing" but pretty close only has eight tracks. |

I'll have to check it out but I need to finish up Time Diver first. I also need some motivation to start FAQing again. After playing at my talent show, all my free time has gone to playing guitar. =P As for driving games though, I wanted to complete every game listed under the Driving genre. Granted, I did add a lot relatively quickly through it, I can't do it anymore. I'm losing a lot of patience mapping those tracks out unless they give me an easy track layout right away. Also the fact that it looks like Paris-Dakar Rally Special! will never be completed since I can't figure the game out at all after a half hour of trying to. I do highly suggest Micro Machines to somebody though. It's one of the best racing games on NES but I just don't have the patience to write a FAQ for that game. I actually have quite a few games I still have on my list for games I wanted to FAQ and it looks like I have to revise a few of my guides I have up now. I really don't want to revise those FAQs though. =P After finishing a guide I have zero motivation to add to it. --- Don't **** with Da Hui |

Phew, had a bunch of stuff come up in the last two weeks, but I'm free again to maybe do some guide writing. BPM, Super Mario Bros. was exactly the game I thought of when I would describe that maze level in Transformers to someone. There used to be a .jpg on a Japanese website that had the maze mapped out with the guiding line on how to get through it. It is long gone now though. PeterL, I played Volguard II recently and there wasn't any kind of ending, so an actual walkthrough for that game would be a bleak undertaking. Pluv, do you have that site handy? I was hoping there would be more to the game then just endless looping. Pluvius, thanks for that site. The following line makes me think the game loops forever: By the way passing 25 areas, the loop it does in endless. Still, I may have missed something in the google translation. Also on that guy's site, the complete solve to Super Star Force: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Knight/7865/volguard2.html Complete with handwritten scanned maps!!! I actually have a solve for this game in one of my old emails, but never got around to playing it and rewriting it. I don't even remember where I got it. For those of you who have never played Super Star Force, it is pretty similar to The Guardian Legend. Flying stages, followed by Legend of Zelda dungeon type stages. If anyone is truly interested in FAQing this I can dig up that email. Between that and this guy's info, the game could actually get done proper. I started playing Silent Service last night, one of the remaining 12 US NES games I've yet to see the ending to and one of the few games that has almost NO info on it anywhere. I have the manual, but that still doesn't make things any easier. I doubt I'll be beating it any time soon. Even with save states and a few cheats I still get blown out of the water or collided with on the higher difficulty levels. Whoever decides to FAQ this one has a HUGE undertaking. There are zero FAQs for this for all the systems it was released for. I won't consider it finished until I get the highest rank, which requires blowing up a certain tonnage of enemy vessels on the highest difficulty. I'll keep plugging away and maybe I'll find some kind of method to make things seem clearer/easier. Also, I didn't realize this one was by Microprose. I still haven't beat F-117a Stealth Fighter, another one of their games. If Koei and Microprose weren't NES licensees, I'd be pretty darn close to having them all beat :) --- American NES games left to beat: 12 Last 3 NES games beaten: Championship Pool, Wario's Woods and Overlord [Updated 4/4/07] |

Put me down for Gumshoe. I must have beaten that game a hundred times as a kid. I'm sure I can bang something out in a week or two. The "Zapper Game Guide" that's posted for it (and several other games) is just a cut-and-paste of the manual. --- - The Admiral |

I got the highest rank in Silent Service; I believe I cheated through unlimited ammo or invincibility or something like that. I can't remember how I did it. Anyway, you just get the rank "WGSC" at the end of the patrol like you would with any other rank. No ending or anything. Rob |
| adaml | Posted 4/8/2007 9:42:06 PM | message detail |
|
Pluv, you've beaten some tough ones. First I hear you beat Overlord, now Silent Service. My goal is to get that best ranking. You wouldn't happen to remember the difficulty level you played the game on, would you, or approximately how many ships you sunk (tonnage-wise)? I am using a game genie code to not get damaged, but those destroyers still ram into me on the higher difficulties, causing the game to end immediately. I was reading through CJayC's post about % of games beaten for different systems and was amazed so many NES games have been tackled. Amazing. --- American NES games left to beat: 12 Last 3 NES games beaten: Championship Pool, Wario's Woods and Overlord [Updated 4/4/07] |

I believe I turned on Convoy Zig-Zags, Port Repairs Only, and Convoy Search, but don't hold me to that. The difficulty rating was probably at least 7. I got a bit lucky and blew up three 10000+ ton tankers straight off, which easily gave me what I needed along with the assorted smaller ships I blew up before I had to return to port. Rob |

The fine folks at lostlevels.org have released Makai Island. This is the game I was going to do my Higemaru Makaijima FAQ from. However, like most attempts I have made at FAQ writing in the last several years I don't seem to have the extra time or energy to put together a good FAQ, in addition to the game being confusing as hell. However, Skrybe from lostlevels did link to a map of the game, so that alone might renew my ambition for the game. Skrybe also mentioned that having certain items will give you different endings upon completing the game. If anyone plays this, gets really good at it and thinks they could write up a guide, complete with how to get the different endings, I would not object in the least to someone getting a solid guide out for this game. This would definitely be in the top 10 of NES games that really need a guide, so I would definitely give up my claim on this if someone is frothing at the mouth to do it. http://forums.lostlevels.org/viewtopic.php?t=1345 --- American NES games left to beat: 12 Last 3 NES games beaten: Championship Pool, Wario's Woods and Overlord [Updated 4/4/07] |
