Good to hear, I'll work on that. Chalk me up for Zombie Hunter, I played through and beat it, but there's multiple paths to take, so replay is necessary. Fun game, but becomes insanely easy once you reach the 4th level and can fight a zombie that rarely attacks and can repeat fighting 2-4 of them for mass level gaining. After subjecting myself to the horror that was The Blues Brothers, this is a nice, easy going game that's actually fun. Wonder why no one's written for it, though. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

Well... Incidentally, mark me down for Zombie Hunter. I've been working on it for a while now. I've worked through like 20% with all the items that get dropped, can get quite frustrating to wait for a rare item. If your guide is also going into that much detail then I'm gonna work on something else instead. |

Hmm, didn't see that post, my mistake. Yeah the items off each Zombie seems hard, by all means if you're working on it I'll back down. I'll check something else out. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

In the later half of the previous topic, we decided to remove prototypes/cancelled games that were deemed highly unlikely to ever be dumped or otherwise released to the public. However, we all make mistakes, so if there is something that truly should be on (or off) the list, let me know and I'll take care of it. The BS.... games like BS Fire Emblem etc. It sounds like it's not a game, thus no FAQ/Walkthrough can be made for them. How about removing them? |

Ok, Defender II just got rejected for "Bad info, missing info. Needs more research." I pretty much wrote everything there is in the game, despite how little there is, not quite sure how it can have bad info when there's not even much to FAQ in the first place. No missing info either. I resubmitted it with a note, let's see what happens I guess. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

For Nick, I asked Jeff about it. He basically said that your FAQ looks like you played the game for no more than 10 minutes, citing that any Defender FAQ without the word "Stargate" in it is definitely incomplete. >_> --- Devin Morgan | CRP #3579 FAQ Completion Projects (NES, GB/GBC): http://faqs.retronintendo.com |

Well, I'm not a Defender fan, I've never even heard of the series, but I did follow his advice and research it via Wikipedia and updated the guide based on the Arcade version and resubmitted it. For a 1981 Arcade game, there's not much to write about. I did search for NES info, found nothing and never figured to look up the Arcade info. I played the game for a good 2 hours, making sure I wasn't missing anything the first time when I wrote it. Basically, he said enemy names were specific, I missed a pattern to the levels, which the NES version didn't have, it's only the Arcade version and I did label the "stargate", but I called it a vortex, wasn't aware of the name. I don't think even Wikipedia called it that, but I could be wrong. Said losing all my humans was bad, however this was Arcade only, not NES. I killed all of them on NES, nothing. I went and played the Arcade version and the game like exploded and became 10 times harder. Anyway, it's been resubmitted with more info, hopefully it's accepted now. It was kind of funny, I was shocked looking at it going "what's he mean bad/missing info? that's all there is to this game..." and my girlfriend was telling me maybe I missed something or the enemies actually had real names and not "green alien, blue alien" and I went "no, I looked, nothing on the NES that mentioned it". Apparently, the Arcade version has a screen that literally shows the names/enemies with point values, I was like -_-; Lesson of the day: When you write a game ported from Arcade or something, check all versions for info, not just one. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

That's amazing, and still going down steadily. Somebody else finished up 'Ninja Kid' though I suppose it's been nearly 2 years since the "claim". |

The writer of the Ninja Kid FAQ is actually my girlfriend, she wanted to get into writing herself with me and asked what guide she should do. I pointed her to Devin's site and told her if she wanted, browse around and pick something to write for. She settled on Ninja Kid; she found it somewhat fun. She'd post herself about this, but it's not letting her into the boards, due to karma. Anyway, Defender II was accepted after some tweaks, so I'm gonna look into my next project. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

I already said by all means, complete your guide. I wasn't aware one was being done for it, so I backed off it and just grabbed another game :P I don't have any tips really, I'm sure whatever you wrote in your guide covers everything. I only really did 1 playthrough and was going to write it via save stating each level and trying for a complete monster drop list. Chalk me up for Volguard II though, finishing this will clear the V section :D --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

Good luck with Volguard II...odino, do you still have that Japanese website detailing this game? If there is a secret way to get the ending I never got it and couldn't figure out if there really is an ending due to the poor translation. Odino, was that you that sent me that site or Pluvius? I did some research into the game since at Area 8, it starts becoming near impossible. According to one, the game has 25 areas...... I guess it's possible, since I'm at Area 10 now and everything's still different, but the waves of mobs are just getting to be too ridiculous and I can't see how anyone beat this game without emulation. If you have any info odino hit me up on here or via e-mail. Thanks. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

I e-mailed you about Atom a while ago, but since then I've discovered one of those very detailed sites: http://cs1x.k-free.net/atommain.html The old link was here, not very detailed but it might still be useful and I certainly would love to see a walkthrough. I even tried to hit some hackers up to make a translation of the game but no takers. http://beraboman.fc2web.com/atomu2.htm ======== Volguard II, the one pluv found was this I believe: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Knight/7865/volguard2.html and there is another one here. http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA029912/vol2.html Doesn't sound like a secret ending, only some bonus points. I'd be careful with that last one as it seems the guy only managed this once and doesn't want to answer questions regarding it. Could be a hoax. |

Awesome, thanks odino. I found another page in Japanese, what appears to be an interview of sorts, but it's nowhere near as helpful as this. Wow, for a game as old and small as this, it has a bunch of hidden features. Currently, I'm on Area 15 and it's not getting easier... --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

Alright, Volguard II completed and submitted. Here's a couple notes on the game: - This is quite possibly the hardest game on the NES. I mean, literally, not exaggerating. To even get through all 25 Areas, you can't die once and with only 1 life, no continues, it's near impossible without emulation. Some of the Areas later on are just suicide and unless you KNOW what to expect, 9/10 you're going to go from full health to dead in seconds. Even if you could map this game, remembering or keeping notes is just too much. - According to the Japanese site, playing on Level 4, (the game has 4 "Levels", all have the same 25 Areas) is the only "real" way to play this game and beat the challenge. I played it past Area 1, everything's normal...then Area 2, every. enemy. gets. rapid. fire. non. stop. Imagine your entire screen blanketed by bullets, making it impossible to dodge. It's a nightmare. From the poor translation I got off the site, scoring 1,000,000 and reaching Area 25 gets you a badge or something...? I find it hard to believe, especially for a 1985 game and although it's huge, I can't see anything else added into it than what I've already found. - odino, this is mostly for you. I found that penguin that guy talked about...twice. Once in Level 1, Area 24. Slamming into it seriously hurt me and just made it change its facial expression and it dropped to the bottom of the screen, this time letting me take it. Shooting it had the same effect, minus me taking damage. The second time was in Level 4, Area 1, oddly enough. Collecting it does nothing and according to the Japanese site, they give a ton of theories in a bad translation I can't even begin to really comprehend. Even so, for what it MAY do, 10,000,000 points seems stupid, especially once you figure out how to "get" it. So, yeah. I'm glad that's over with. Gonna check the site and see what game to do next. If anyone has any additional info on the game or wants to check my FAQ, let me know or just wait until it goes up. Thanks :) --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

scoring 1,000,000 and reaching Area 25 gets you a badge or something That should be easy to check, just cheat the score and complete the area. As for the super penguin secret, I wouldn't look too much into it. Sure it would be great to confirm but the guy himself did not manage to do it. Whetever or not he made it up or copied from some official guide book, following these 8 rules is insane. He does mention though, that if you fail any condition including shooting/touching the penguin before fulfilling them all will result in it not working...I don't really buy it. If the conditions would at least be explained a little better. But the penguin is still there...sooo hmmm, what for? Easter egg? Maybe something from the first game, care to play the MSX game? :) I take it you figured out the 100,000 point bonus? |

I scored over 1,000,000 on Level 1 and nothing happened. As I said before, attempting Level 4 with 1,000,000 and Area 25 is near impossible and to cheat it, I don't have any game genie cheats or anything. About the 100,000 point thing, no, I didn't figure that out. What is that exactly? Also, put me down for Hello Kitty no Hanabatake. I know I'm losing masculinity points here, but come on, it's Hello Kitty! :P Very, very short and easy game, should be done by tomorrow. --- "Is there ever a bad time for pudding?" - Captain Murphy |

| Adam"thecheatmaster"L could try to figure out if there's any truth in that 1,000,000 score and finishing Area 4. Hack the score and put on God mode should be enough to see if anything happens. No idea what this guy means with the 100,000 bonus though. |

Choujikuu Yousai Macross, after having another look, was made complete. It may look a bit short and like a manual, yet it covers plenty the scroller has to offer. 'RodLand' has some similarities to Hello Kitty in case you are interested. Or 'Thomas the Tank Engine' but not in terms of gameplay :D |

Other than those Japanese language games that Odino is somehow FAQing, Tetsuwan Atom looks like it will be next to impossible to figure out: http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcs1x.k-free.net%2Fatom9.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8 Even the Japanese guy doing the review seems fed up with it and I think one of the lines he states translates into "How the hell am I supposed to figure this game out without hints." It looks like the game has 10 stages...I got stumped in Stage 3. And the Stage 3 in this guys walkthrough/review doesn't even look like the same Stage 3 I was playing. Alright, alright, I get the hint. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://beraboman.fc2web.com/atomu2.htm A tip for the future: A very important Japanese word to know is "攻略" (in Unicode) which literally means "capture."
