Oops, I forgot about the ToS again. Yeah, it was a link to a proto of Bignose and the Witch Doctor (Bignose 2).

Work-in-progress of 'Bignose Freaks Out' though, that demo was discovered over 4 years ago.

Didn't know that... good to know. I don't think I've ever played Big Nose Freaks Out; might be a good chance to try it.

I learnt how to play Mahjong and used that knowledge for a 4 Nin Uchi Mahjong FAQ. It isn't 100% complete because of dozens of rules the game might have to offer, but I'm surely through explaining how to play and how the game works.

By the way, it's quite hard to apply the "done one, covers all games" rule with Mahjong. It's mainly because of these rules. On the other hand, it's nearly impossible to find every rule the game uses without playing it for many many weeks.

Short vacation?! :) I'm still fine-tuning the Mahjong game.

I just had a week off and went up to New Hampshire with my laptop. While up there, I wrote a quicky for Robocop Vs The Terminator, so that one's off the list. 50th NES FAQ for me! =D

Wow, I just can't believe that this signature is exactly the maximum one-hundred sixty characters total you're allowed and is also the maximum two lines allowed
odino | Posted 8/18/2007 11:38:42 PM | message detail
A little early to talk about the project's fate, why don't you have a look through the list instead and do something easy like 'World of Card Games' instead.

Speaking of list, I mentioned Crayon Shin-Chan (Datach) in the guide. There is nothing different between the normal and Datach versions apart from a different cartridge design.

And ignore my earlier remark about the Mahjong games using different rules. I've learnt more and they do use the same for the most NES games. I'll try to get a few more covered if I can.

Yeah, I just said "I'm not going to bother covering the hideously complex scoring system used in this game" in my Mahjong FAQ, and still got a full circle.

Oh, and my apologies for saying I was going to do these FAQs, then not actually doing them. I'll see if I can get around to doing a couple more if you don't feel like taking on the rest of the genre. 4ninuchi is a horrible game, don't you agree?

My nick's Adamant. I have a "no 1" that looks stupid. Would've changed it if I could without losing karma. So it's Adamant, not Adamanto or Adamantno.
odino | Posted 8/21/2007 12:27:57 AM | message detail
I just submitted that one, it wasn't THAT bad. In fact I like it more simple rather than lots of fancy modes to play. What's really annoying is how basic the menus are - it is definately not a good one to start playing. On the other hand you can cheat and view the opponent tiles ;) I also prefer the stacked view rather than the traditional one. I've played a few different ones now and it can be quite annoying having the 'realistic' view around the table.

I'll probably derive a few more guides in the near future under PD seeing how 80-85% of the guide are simply reused and kb filler = 30kb each time.

Have you looked into the games by Sachen? They also include the traditional way to play, or at least one of those variations. Perhaps Taiwanese style. I'm not familiar with that one.
bodo_parkour | Posted 8/21/2007 12:06:01 PM | message detail
What does under PD mean?

I've never heard that expression before.
Devin Morgan | Posted 8/21/2007 12:15:23 PM | message detail
PD = Public Domain (odino's "alt" user name for contributing certain guides to this project).

Nope, but given that I only know how to play Reach Mahjong (and as mentioned, I'm not exactly a pro, so I prefer video game variations where I don't have to think about stuff like how to calculate scores), I don't think I have the skills to take on something like that either.

Sign me up for Slalom.

It shouldn't be too hard.

Crayon Shin-Chan was actually merged now, thus no more linking between the guides.

That's Slalom submitted now. It's now sitting in the queue.

A good question. This will be completed even faster if it has the correct support. Even all of the games will be mastered.

.Just to motivate myself: I'm still working on Magic Block. The game's quite fun, but the later levels get darn difficult. I was stuck on one for a week, until I found out how to skip/select them... still haven't solved it (and still one third of total stages missing).

You can take me off Eggerland: Meikyuu no Fu kkatsu. Writing a walkthrough just sucked the fun out of the game. :/

I don't know if I'm allowed to link, but here are the complete maps (in one zip file) for the game:

Finished one of the Jinguuji Saburo games, and a first to the site as well. Not that I want to go through the entire series of detective games.

'Y' is nearly complete, anyone feel like looking into Youkai Club (Kurabu)? It's quite easy and all in English iirc.

@katastrophie changed your mind about the game?

That's very nice of you. I gave it a second thought and while I might finish it somewhere in the future, it's not going to be any time soon. I know you wanted to make a guide for the game, so it's better for the project if I step aside and let you do it instead. Good luck!
