It's too much fun jumping on stuff though :P. I think I might start level 1 tomorrow. I wasted today being lazy.

Kind of funny Gemerl mentions Titan Warriors as I was about to reserve Titan.

Keroppi to Keroriinu no Splash Bomb! completed. With maps too!

.Great work on the Great Deal FAQ, Andrew!
I had started working on that, too, but didn't get too far yet. And I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to cover it that well.

Guess I'll go back to Magic Block, then maybe work on Poke Block (was suggested by odino).
On Magic Block, I just beat stage 15-2, YAY, but there are still 3 regular and 1 'extra' stage missing.

Hey sorry you missed out on Great Deal, Andrew has been on a roll lately. There is a similar game to Magic Block and Blodia Land (I think) called Peepar Time. It seems like fun, not sure how complicated it gets in later levels.

Submitted Remote Control.

Working on a rather lengthy guide for Ochinnitoshi Puzzle Tonjan for now.

Just wanted to say a general "great job" to everyone. Not only are these recent FAQs for really tough-to-write for-games, but they're very well written as well.

File successfully uploaded as titan warriors.txt, 31200 bytes.

This was a really short game in terms of NES shmups. There's 6 stages, with 2 zones each, and each zone is really basic and small. The bosses are a much more fierce force, but are kind of wonky at times. But oh well, the game's unfinished.

Lagoona, thanks for the mention! I was a math major in college, and Great Deal was a straight-up math problem if you looked at it right. Unusual for a block-drop game. You'll get Magic Block soon enough.

(BTW I think Great Deal got zapped from the completion page.)

Here are my hits, and the sample size isn't huge but it shows some things pretty clearly:

With maps it's a few more, but my other NES FAQs for more popular games get a lot more hits. BBB got a bunch because it was, well, slightly infamous, and Hillsfar is part of the AD&D series. I'd expect similarly low hits for other games, especially ones we've done recently, since the non-obscure ones were already covered. I'm curious how a FAQ like BSulpher's planned Bokosuka Wars would do. Another game with a cult following. My more mainstream NES games are in the thousands, but nothing near 10000.

A few of the games not listed here get a lot of hits because they are for other systems too--Championship Lode Runner had 800 overall(ok, relatively a lot,) Might and Magic 2367/7253, Q*Bert 850/918.

Great Deal is listed as Greed Dear on the list.

This came up before, the Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade guide is also for the NES, and Klax even has a "NES Version" section.

Looks like 'Airball' is getting a release soon.

That's quite the accomplishment everybody, keep it up!

By the way I have a bit of Trolls on Treasure Island done. I'm not trying to claim it and I most likely will never finish it, but if anybody wants what I have so far, feel free to take it. I've got the first 17 levels done. If you want to finish it up, just e-mail me at FrankTheTank3388@gmail.com

Nice! Though when it eventually comes down to Mahjong or text adventures or the like I'll be useless here :P.

Kong is 1/3 of all Worlds complete. However, I'd take that with a grain of salt because this game is not quite linear so who knows how long the rest will take.

Back to the Future II & III has a bounty now, not too hard of a game so I suppose that will be knocked off soon. Also Takeshi no Chousenjou (why!!??). $40 for that game alone :o
pseudo | Posted 11/21/2007 4:44:17 PM | message detail
Da Hui, Trolls on Treasure Island is almost the exact same game as Dudes with Attitude, both by AVE. merc for hire wrote a guide for that one, maybe it will useful for Trolls.

odino, I've love to see a guide for Takeshi no Chousenjou myself, but I think it's near- impossible to beat. I've tried before, I didn't get too far. Lol.

Alright Gem! Bout time that game got its due. Between that, Airball, Locksmith and whatever Odino bangs out next, there's some serious gaming ahead.

We ever decide on whether the Famicom Disk System games would be included in this project? To make the project more doable, I would say no, but it would be like having a TurboGrafx project and saying TGCD games didn't count.

Toki no Tabibito submitted. Ochinnitoshi Puzzle Tonjan possibly already by tomorrow.

Btw Times of Lore doesn't have a guide linked anymore, that one sucked anyway. It's not so important to change the icon on the incomplete list, but it will show up on the site's "has no FAQ" list which may attract some interest (or a bounty one day).

You likely need a BIOS file for your emulator. Also, the emulator will have some options related specifically to the FDS, such as to change sides.

In Nestopia it isn't working?

Do you have it loaded into Machine -> External -> Disk System -> Options?

After that, you shoulkd be able to proceed normally and open the game, then using Machine -> External -> Disk System -> Insert when it prompts you for a Disk side.

Was anyone going to do Miracle Piano? I was going to transcribe the more useful parts of the manuals sometime in the near future, now that I finally got one, but if I can get a footpedal and the keyboard I would throw a FAQ together for this game.

No one's signed up and I doubt there are many people with the drive to write who are in the position to do one.

You have just the manual? I figure you should wait until you have the unit before you go ahead and write a FAQ for it. Don't invest in one just for this though. But if you had designs on one anyways, I think that would be a great perk.

I bought a supposedly complete one years ago. It was missing the footpedal, and some of the switches on the keyboard are broken, so I'll have to replace the keyboard too.

The FAQ idea was just a thought, I might do sometime next year if I find the pieces I need.

Famicom Disk System

Looking through the list, a lot of games can be linked from NES guides alone which leaves less than 150. I'm neutral about including them in the project because I'll be doing a few guides anyway but also don't feel the system *is* the NES. I don't think the language barrier is such a problem, there are much tougher games on the NES to cover. Last time I checked, Koei did not develop for the FDS :)
