I am now officially regretting my decision to try to do a full Conflict FAQ. Ugh.

Hooray for Brian writing a Bokosuka Wars FAQ!

I wrote some FDS FAQs, and I am still lagging on Magic Cube, but it should get done in the next day or two. Might as well bump the topic. Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

I also have a PC FAQ for Times of Lore 95% done and may write a separate one for the NES version. The controls are probably different, and I suspect the difficulty is, too, making for different strategies.

Wow, we got a lot done this year. For my part I have 3 FAQs I need to complete: Pyramids of Ra, Titan and American Dream. They will be high on my priority list for early 2008. So I guess that will keep things chugging along. Hope everyone else has lots of retro gaming stuff planned, NES or otherwise.

I found a couple of fun puzzlers on the NES that I may be interested in taking. No guarantees yet, but if I can find enough time alone to work on them... :)

I'm officially stuck in Bug-tte now, I can't figure out the statue in Stage 4. After consulting online information as well as three people (including our very own Rob) they all point to having to rapidly fire against the statue so the egg pops out eventually. At the same time one should avoid the birds. With auto-fire and unlimited invincibility items all working in my favor, it still doesn't work :(

If anyone manages to do it, I really need to see this in motion. E-mail me if you want a save of the exact spot + ever-lasting invincibility.

Hey, anyone know if Larange Point ever got a fan-translation or currently has one in process? I can only find mention of an abandoned project.

It seems really, really good.

I'm fairly sure Lagrange Point is being translated by AGTP and I think it's almost done. You can post on the Pantheon if you want.

.odino, if you want I can give it a try, even though I'm generally no good at shooter games. The save game mentioned would be helpful then for that...

You have to be standing absolutely on top of the statue in order for it to work. Your character and the statue should be occupying the same space.

I have tried again and again, it doesn't do anything. Adam couldn't manage it either. A screenshot of your positioning would help perhaps.

Funny enough, I was going to ask the same thing. :)

The other two games in the Nantettatte!! series exist, I looked them up, but I don't have dumps of either. Since you're asking about them as well, I'm guessing you don't either. :P

They seem extremely rare on cartridge alone, and there don't seem to be any dumps at all.

If you look at this database here:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/gamedatabase/software/DB_NTC1_FC1991.html
The ones in beige are the 2 games in question, but I don't know what the media "KC" really is (C=Cartridge i.e. NES, D=Disk i.e. FDS). That might explain it.
Devin Morgan | Posted 1/15/2008 11:32:11 PM | message detail
Beats me as far as what KC is. Does anyone else here know about those games?

Oops, sort of repeated my post from a month ago there with my post this morning. Number complete should be more than number incomplete today with Times of Lore getting posted. I was right--the NES version was simplified a bit.

Now let's see about Duck Maze. It's a clone of Penguin Land, which I've FAQed on other systems.

Nice Times of Lore guide. I played through that years ago and could have used a guide. I'd probably play through it again if there weren't so many other games I haven't been able to go through already (Airball, Makai Island, etc.).

Good luck with Duck Maze if you decide to tackle it. I'm pretty sure it is a Penguin Land ripoff. I could not get far in it at all.

I had a look at that once, there is also a good website with info in Japanese:

http://www.jtw.zaq.ne.jp/maxmio/gamestoremax/gamefile/donaldland.html

But when I couldn't figure out how the guy gets up on the tree at the start of World 2, I gave up because my guide wouldn't cover "everything". Still wondering how to do that...

I'm trying to see if there's any way to stand on bombs in midair, but it's been tough going. If you lay them on the ground, they do raise Ronald a bit.

There's a little dude who hops out of the water just to the right, but he doesn't get close enough to the tree for me to reach the ronald icon, and if you blow him up he flies up into the air but Ronald falls off of him.

Sorry for the triple, but I got the Ronald Icon at the start of stage 2.

I tossed the bomb up (held up) jumped after slight delay and got the boost I needed. I cannot do it consistently yet though, so I need to work on the technique.

Duck Maze has a few different rules from Penguin land but is essentially the same idea. It's tough to get started on it, but once you do, inertia can carry you through. You just need patience.

And I needed a break so I wrote up Tiles of Fate in the meantime.

Also, I really want to get through Little Ghosts this weekend. I've got the basics of quick improvement down--I think--and some cheat values. Anyone know how many levels it is?

I'm pretty sure Da Hui left that out during his "all racing games" FAQing because NESHQ is working on it. And to quote from his site: "Because of the sheer length of this game this FAQ won't be completed for some time."

Just wrote up a quick FAQ for Monster Truck Rally. What a garbage game, but at least (hopefully) it's one less game to cover for the project.

Da Hui | Posted 1/31/2008 12:02:05 PM | message detail
Yeah I left that game out of my list for that specific reason. I might take a look at it in the future but right now FAQing is still kind of on hiatus. I got caught up in World of Warcraft months ago so pretty much all my game time has gone into that but now I've reached the end game content where the only way i can progress is at night with 24 other people playing so I don't play nearly as much. However the other day I decided to finally try and beat Chrono Trigger, it's been a void not beating it in my gaming life. =P So once I finish that game up I might get back into FAQing for this project again and take a look at some games.

I still look at this topic regularly if you're wondering. I'd also like to remind everybody that I still have a couple levels of Trolls in Treasure Island that somebody can finish if they'd like to, just email me at FrankTheTank3388@gmail.com

Don't **** with Da Hui
Pluvius | Posted 1/31/2008 11:52:55 PM | message detail
Formula One: Built to Win is great in the first half, kind of like a proto-Gran-Turismo. When you actually get into the F1 races it becomes your boring generic racer of the time period, though.

_Lagoona_ | Posted 2/1/2008 12:34:15 PM | message detail
.Hmm, maybe I could help with Trolls on Treasure Island, Da Hui...

And a question to everybody. Though RodLand has been accepted, I still wonder one thing. In other versions of the game there were two more special weapons (flamethrower and ice spray) that I never encountered during my playthroughs of the game. Has anyone else ever played the game and maybe encountered them? Or maybe they were just removed in the NES version...

This again? :) I think it was brought up in these topics twice already.

For Silver Eagle it is on "Super Cartridge Version 7", not sure how the file is usually labeled on the net. If you can't find it, e-mail me. I was looking into wiping out Silent Assault soon.

I finally got it (after a deep descent into the depths of the dastardly cyberworld, casting aside all past all ethical conventions and pouring forth a great amount of back-breaking sweaty labour, all to the purpose of trying to obtain that ever rare ROM obscured in shadows that sought to secretly smuggle all traces of the game away from the internet under everyones' noses, ultimately culminating me in giving up and sending an email to someone). I still do not know what the hell I am doing. I seem to be killing people. That is about all I can gather from this.
