NES FAQ Completion Project Part 7

This is the 7th edition of the NES FAQ Completion Project. The goal of the project is to have a full circle guide for every single game that is listed in the NES database. The project started in May 2004 and has had some great success completing a total of 478 FAQs. There are now fewer games left than what we have all submitted. The project site can be found at: http://faqs.retronintendo.com/ Great job by everybody so far, it's been a huge success, let's keep this up. --- Don't **** with Da Hui |

Anyone interested in dumping the rosters of J.League Winning Goal? Official rosters from 1993 are hard to find, and that the game only uses kata to display them makes it hard to identify anyone not called Zico... Oh and congrats to all the completed guides at the end of the last topic. |

Donald Land is 40%, kind of on pause since a week because I've been playing Days of Ruin on the DS and some Iter Vehemens ad Necem with new resolve. But I'll be back in gear at least by Monday. I've tried copying the bell sequence in Tetsuwan Atom from one I saw on youtube, but no such luck. As an aside, I decided to sticky the project topic. Not that it was ever in any danger of being purged anyway; I feel it'd be easier to access this way. If anyone has a problem with this, let me know (not that you guys would anyway :P). odino - I did the roster data manually for the baseball games I covered last month for the project. However, in those games there was some data I did not use since it seemed to only be viewable for pinch hitters and not your regular starting lineup. It was very minor to boot, but it still bothered me slightly. How would you dump data like that from a game anyway? If you want to talk about this off the board (to risk moderation maybe), shoot me an email and we'll talk. :) --- Devin Morgan | CRP #3579 FAQ Completion Projects (NES, GB/GBC): http://faqs.retronintendo.com |

Quite a few of the games left are Japanese RPGs, which is going to be difficult to knock out. As for games you might try, I was surprised to see Legend of Hero Tonma was still left undone, although I've only ever played the TurboGrafx version so I don't know how good this one is. Super Spy Hunter is also still unclaimed and is good if you like car games. Youkai Kurabu is a Japanese game, but it's a platformer that wouldn't require knowledge of the language. As mentioned in the last topic, Bard's Tale II is still out there as well, if you like RPGs. I don't know how well the NES transition was handled though (I only know about the PC version). --- Winners of a battle will eventually decline in power and become losers, and then those ‘losers’ will cultivate a new leader - Treize Kushrenada |

I'm pretty sure Legend of Hero Tonma does not exist. A proto of this has not turned up yet. It originated on Funcoland's NES game list (or Game Club) along with a bunch of other unreleased games and has somehow survived on many lists to this day. I have played the TG16 version and it is a nice little platformer, but I am almost positive a Famicom or NES version is simply not out there. I just did some digging and turned up this site: http://schwillz.com/nestral/nr.htm Scroll down to Legend of Hero Tonma and that is as close to the game as you will get for the NES. The 2 screen shots are definitely not from the TG16, which tells me that there was at least a proto of this at one point in time, but nothing has surfaced yet (keeping fingers crossed). Looks like Nintendo actually expected this to be released, so a finished proto is a possibility, though nothing new has turned up in quite some time. --- American NES games left to beat: 11 Last 3 NES games beaten: Wario's Woods, Overlord and F-117A Stealth Fighter [Updated 5/24/07] |

I have to wonder about some of the protos still listed. If LostLevels haven't got them for release then there is not much point having them on the site until they are available. In particular: Cue Stick Legend of Hero Tonma Putt Master War on Wheels Which just leaves HeroQuest where the public proto is broken, but I'm quite sure there is a better version available in secret elite underground layers ;) |

My belief is that GameFAQs should keep all canceled games on the site (except for those games where it's likely that the game was just a mistake typo of another game or something), because in the end, it should still also hold as much information as possible on any game. --- We apologize for the inconvenience. Cue Stick Legend of Hero Tonma Putt Master War on Wheels I'm pretty sure the supreme NES proto collector, dreamtr, has War on Wheels. Martin from NES World either has or had Cue Stick (I almost think that is the proto that got lost in the mail). So there are definitely protos for those. Isn't there a Famicom version of Putt Master, under a different name of course? So there are known versions/protos of at least 2 of these games, but since they are not available to any of us, perhaps they should be removed from the list. They can always be put back on later if they turn up. --- American NES games left to beat: 11 Last 3 NES games beaten: Wario's Woods, Overlord and F-117A Stealth Fighter [Updated 5/24/07] |

Sorry to double post, but when checking to make sure NES Vigilante was no longer on the list, I noticed there was only one "V" game without a guide, Valkyrie no Bouken: Toki no Kagi Densetsu. Yeah, I tried Conflict a while back. I got flustered because I was so busy with classes and I had devised a fairly elaborate hex grid ASCII to display both unit and terrain info. It was too much for me at the time so I dropped it. In retrospect, simple instructions are probably better anyways lol. Finished up to the end of World 8 in Donald Land today. There's like 11 or 12 Worlds, so it should be done by Friday. Also played a lot of Don Doko don 2. It's going to be difficult to truly scour that game. Obscurely hidden matching games and such. But it's a really cool game. And so is the first one. The second game is a platformer, using many of the same enemies from the first game. Pretty sneaky sis. But it's such a different game that I'm really excited to work on both of them. Can anyone confirm if Ninja-Kun: Ashura no Shou is the same as Ninja Taro? Ashura plays a big role in Ninja Taro and something is telling me they are the same, when I was actually reading about this series (as I've done two games from that series for this project). If anyone likes Zippy Race or Road Fighter they may want to check out Cycle Race - Road Man. It;s listed as "Road Man" on the project. There's actually a lot of technique involved in this game. Wind, stats, needing to pedal up to speed. Really cool, but if you're interested give it a try because it's a take it or leave it game. But I will say this - excellent game if you're looking for a simple foundation with multiple layers. --- Complete FAQS: 62 http://faqs.retronintendo.com | http://sms.sitesled.com |

why you didn't go ahead and cover the remaining Mahjong games? Good question. For one I got bored of it at some point, but I haven't stopped completely. Another reason was that the rest of the games are either 2 player (as opposed to 4) which requires a different take on the game, and also a few have RPG elements. I've been working on the quiz part for another one that uses some special peripheral to play. I have to work through the second game with even more quiz questions so it will take a while. I don't know about the pirate versions by Sachen yet though. Once I complete all that it is time to learn Shogi! :D |

Alright I'm kind of stuck with the actual walkthrough of Legend of Valkyrie. With this game I've been kind of using http://youtube.com/watch?v=tu3z1LyAcNQ as a guide. At about 25 seconds in, he starts fighting a monster that drops a key. I had it drop once but I immediately died from another monster before I could save state it. Now I've been grinding these monsters for the past hour and still no luck with it dropping, is there some trick to it dropping? I tried imitating the player in the video exactly and it still hasn't dropped. --- Don't **** with Da Hui |
